Here at True Health Center for Functional Medicine, we’re all about good health and, sometimes, good health means just a few key adjustments. By changing up your daily routine, you can often see fantastic results in the aggregate - here are some of our head-to-toe strategies for achieving results.

Find Strategies for Better Sleep

There are a lot of wonder diets, extreme workout regimes, and miracle health products on the market, but none of these things is an adequate substitute for a good night’s sleep. If you can reduce your caffeine intake, drink more water, turn off screens early, and incorporate activities such as reading at least an hour before bedtime, you’ll soon experience longer and more restful sleep.

Care for Your Body

It is easy to put off medical appointments or avoid refilling a prescription after it runs out. Sometimes we blame time or money, and sometimes we deprioritize things that were prescribed to us by a doctor we didn’t feel was listening. No matter the case, it is important to care for your body in many ways, and to find a doctor who you trust. The medical professionals at True Health Center for Functional Medicine establish relationships with their patients to provide personalized healthcare practices that embrace modern and alternative options. If you’re unhappy with your current medical care, consider setting an appointment with True Health.

Try Adopting a Tactical Exercise Strategy

If you work a sedentary job or you’ve moved towards working from home, you may find that you’re exercising less than ever. To offset this, it’s important to find ways to get moving and include activities in your daily routine - this could involve scheduling walk breaks, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, picking up food (instead of getting it delivered), or opting to work in the office more often. However you choose to do it, the important thing is that you’re getting off the couch (or out of bed) and using your body whenever you can.

Declutter the Spaces You are In

Equally important as your physical health is your mental health. And, as Environmental Health Perspectives reports, an important part of protecting this is to ensure your surrounding environment is clean and organized. There are plenty of useful guides online for decluttering your home in an efficient manner and even making some extra cash in the process. If you have a backlog of cleaning, try to compartmentalize your tasks and go room-by-room over the course of the week - this will help you to avoid getting overwhelmed.

Calm Your Mind with Meditation

There are many forms of meditation, all providing unique ways to help you achieve inner calm and focus. Mindfulness meditation, for example, incorporates breathing techniques and can teach you to more actively resist distractions, thereby aiding you throughout the work day. Alternatively, you could opt for a more physical practice such as forest bathing. Originating from Japan, this involves walking through and ‘absorbing’ nature to improve your physical fitness and mental faculties.

Dress for Comfort and Confidence

What you wear affects how you feel. You should find a style that allows you to feel comfortable, but also confident. Like you can take on the world because you know who you are and what you need. This feeling is even more important for women who have recently had a baby.  Pregnancy changes women’s bodies in many ways, which can leave her feeling less like herself. In these cases, invest in a comfortable and elegant maternity nursing top that lets you look good and feel good about caring for yourself and your baby. Look for something in a soft material that you will truly enjoy wearing.

Take Time for Fresh Cooking

Diet, of course, plays a crucial role for our general health, but how to go about fixing or changing our eating patterns is not always clear. If in doubt, a good rule is to eat fresh - that means buying produce that hasn’t been processed or kept with preservatives. Vegetables, fruit, and non-packaged meat are all good bets, and you can balance these out with nuts, seeds, herbs, and spices. Check out some of these fresh-focused online recipes if you run out of ideas.

Oral Shape Up

It’s difficult to overstate the importance of dental hygiene - failure to look after your teeth and gums could lead to periodontal disease and even cardiovascular issues. If you’ve let things slide, that’s okay - take the time to see a dental hygienist for advice. But Dentistry IQ suggestions you start by investing in a new brush, tongue cleaners, floss, and mouthwash to help kickstart your upkeep.

Implement Healthy Strategies Daily

When it comes to health, it’s important to cover all angles. You can’t always protect yourself from what life might throw at you, but you can implement strategies to help you to feel better and more confident. Start with a healthy diet and add in some tactical exercise (such as walking). Those two things will help you to feel good, and adding a few strategic pieces to your wardrobe will complete the feeling of confidence. We can’t control everything around us, but we can make choices that help us to feel healthy and confident every day.
