Kyla Baum, RDN

Kyla Baum is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with continued training in Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice through the Institute of Functional Medicine. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Clinical Nutrition from Texas State University. After her Dietetic Internship at the University of Houston, Kyla started working in an intensive care unit in Southern California followed by clinical nutrition management in Austin, Texas. Although she knew her dietitian role had a significant impact on her critical care patients she quickly became aware that she was unable to implement and share most of the nutrition knowledge she had with the other 95% of the patients in the hospital. She knew she had the expertise to prevent and dramatically affect the disease states her patients had but lacked significant time and means to help as much as she would like in a fast conventional health care system.

With this predicament, Kyla explored other routes a dietitian can take in order to have a larger impact on optimal and preventative health which led her to functional medicine. After finding and being trained in the functional medicine approach of nutrition, she was extremely excited to educate her patients with a whole body approach, digging to the root cause of illness and implementing individualized nutrition for each patient. She is a big proponent of achieving a healthy gut, emphasizing the importance of a balanced microbiome. Her mission is to guide her patients to balanced, thriving, prolonged health.

In her free time, Kyla enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, yoga and spending time with her husband, two kids and dog.
